Valencia
Valencia is a first class municipality of Negros Oriental, just 9 kms. west of Dumaguete, at the foot of Mount Talinis. Just minutes away is the coastal area of Dauin where divers and snorkellers can help themselves to an array of protected marine reserves. Valencia is a popular retirement destination due to subsidized electricity, very low crime rate and cooler climate. Fruit trees abound - rambutan, lanzones, bananas, durian, etc. Locals are friendly and the lifestyle is laid back. The municipality also boasts of natural and man-made tourist attractions. Due to Valencia's proximity to Dumaguete, residents get to enjoy Dumaguete's urban amenities and services (universities, hospitals, malls, theatre, movies, bay walk, etc.) without having to live in a city. Internet cafés are numerous and internet service providers are provided by Smart and Globe Telecommunications.
